MandrakeSoft upadnie za miesiąc?

Jako pierwszy przekazuję informację (jeszcze nie potwierdzoną oficjalnie). Na stronach Klubu Mandrake ukazał się apel o wsparcie dystrybucji. Jego autorem jest Denis Havlik – główny pomysłodawca i programista Klubu.

Twierdzi on w nim, że wczoraj w nocy dowiedział się, że MandrakeSoft za miesiąc straci płynność finansową…

Unfortunately we haven’t got a big jackpot on a stock-market lottery like Red Hat, we don’t have a rich uncle like SuSE, and although new investors are promising to bring money that would let us build a really great company in a month-two, we need a miracle today to survive until all this happens.
In short, MandrakeSoft has finally run out of cash, and the „bridge” financing we were hoping for hasn’t come, and wan’t come for at least one more month.
As I said, „we need a miracle” now.
If you believe in miracles, go and renew/upgrade your MandrakeClub membership early, get some friends on board, or buying some MandrakeSoft shares. If not, I’ll have to look for a new job, and we’ll all have to look for another distribution. Whatever happens, let me tell you that I have enjoyed this first year of MandrakeClub. You folks are really great, and no matter what happens I’ll always remember that there really ARE good people out there who actually want to build things, and not only to kill everything that is good. Jeśli to prawda, to byłaby wielka szkoda. Dystrybucja Mandrake pewnie będzie się rozwijała dalej i bez wsparcia firmy, jednak fakt upadku kolejnej firmy opierającej swój rozwój na wolnodostępnym oprogramowaniu zniechęci innych do inwestowania w przyszłości w Linuksa…
Chyba że zdarzy się cud…
